In Italy, 9.937.212 people live in cities with less than 5.000 inhabitants. Nevertheless, these towns are dramatically depopulating: this is why EOLO (an Italian local internet provider) decided to launch Missione Comune, a digital platform aimed to enhance and support Italy’s smallest cities.

Idea
To bring this story to the spotlight, we put the small town of Esino Lario (747 inhabitants) on sale, with a video message from the mayor himself and a dedicated website. We also created dedicated ambient billboards in Esino Lario and print subjects on the Italian major newspapers.
Media kit
We also sent dedicated media kits to selected journalists, containing a physical "sample" of the town up for sale and the official invitation to the Missione Comune's press conference.
The news was covered by literally every single newspaper in Italy, with additional coverage on national television, on all sorts of programs: from news programs to political debate, from satirical formats to daily shows.
