GLTC approached Detraform for a full business rebrand and fresh Squarespace website. We started with researching the history of Japanese Taiko drumming and similar taiko centers across the US. Japan has long history of incredible art and design. After considering several design directions we decided to go full anime and developed a custom, taiko playing, Canada lynx.
We partnered with the fantastic Ilustrata studio for the illustration work. Detraform provided exacting creative direction with a 39 page design brief. Our taiko lynx features culturally appropriate elements like a hopi coat folded the proper way (not right over left for a funeral), and a bochi stick held straight up reflecting the taiko tradition taught at GLTC.
The resulting identity and website perfectly reflects our brand intentions for a music center that is energized, super fun, and welcoming.
The website reflects our ideal of super simple website interactions paired with a lot of personality through illustrations and photography.
