Artist's Statement: With the withdrawing of funds for art programs in public schools, this piece highlights ways in which students can get involved with the arts outside of school. From interviewing local teen artists, the video stresses the importance of having art opportunities in the community. The Phoenix Art Museum in Phoenix, Arizona hosts many renown artists' work throughout the year, this piece showcases a local photographer's collection.
How it was created: When we, the co-owner and myself, heard about this Teen Art Night at the museum we set up a time to go and collect footage. When we arrived we toured the museum and collected interviews with local teen artists and spectators. Surprisingly, the featured artist turned out to be a close family friend of mine, which helped collect us more valuable interviews. The co-owner created a script and I edited the audio and video through Adobe Premier.
