Observation and Analyses of ICU Designs

This is a vision for the future of the intensive care unit (ICU). Over the course of a year research was carried out including observation and interviews within the ICU’s of two major Canberra Hospitals. The project was initiated by Dr. Bikshandi, head of ICU at Calvary John James Hospital and aimed to identify and address design shortcomings in the ICU. The goal of the project was a futuristic concept that would showcase improvements and help to drive change in the ICU. Awarded the Human Factors and Ergonomic Society of Australia (ACT Branch) Prize.
