This is a one week project in 3D class of RISD foundation year. I made a exploration of a flexible furniture with red oak and dowels. The project was inspired by the look of tradition Chinese and Japaness wooden architecture. It has multiple functions including table, stool, storage or just pure decoration.
The surface of the table are made of Oak Planks that can be removed.
The dowels are removable and are used to lock in the planks.
After all planks and dowels are removed, push opposite diagonal of either side to collapse the table.
The collapse form of the table takes less space and much more portable.
Wooden planks can be inserted in bottom layers of the table and provide a space for storage.
You may also change the arrangement of the planks and give it different interior look.
