Sensitivity to cultural variants within an international business workplace programme
Marriott’s China country office was relocated to the boutique office building ‘ITC B’ in the Puxi district. Occupying the top 2 workspace floors & roof garden, we created both a work social space for the Marriott staff & visitors.
The design brief was to reflect Shanghai’s architectural heritage & Marriott’s hospitality base; while recognizing a wish for a slightly more formal business atmosphere in that location than for the HK or Singapore workplaces. The overall feeling achieved is a reflection of the 1920’s - ‘30’s Shanghai buildings but with contemporary detailing & specifications.
Working with KangYe Construction Group, we were able to bring their experience of hotel fitout quality to the project; which
shows itself in the level of material detailing.
