2010: Contemporary Traditions - Senior Collection

My collection was inspired by Islamic architecture, or better said, Islamic interior design details.  This inspiration is close to my heart, for it came from my childhood and school trips to old Egyptian monuments from the Ottoman era. Things that always caught my eye—the details of the space, the ceiling work in wood, the pattern on the floor, patterns on the walls, and even the plans of the architecture around a courtyard—all created an amazing composition.

Every palace and detail of the design, of even the smallest object, is incredible to behold.
When people go to these types of places they look at the space as a whole and wonder at the talent and skills of the people who created it. I always look at the ceiling, the floor, window details, shapes in the space, and the composition of every element and their proportions. To me these elements are truly inspiring, even the littlest detail of a table leg.

Although the inspiration might seem very traditional, my designs consist of all these details from the monuments translated into a modern look for a contemporary woman looking for unique pieces. This collection was all about contemporizing traditions.
