Pansy Concept Book 2018
Exploratory vibrance, colorful naïveté, hidden surrealism are all elements that describe this interactive book project. It was a process of creating a personal concept that revolved around the particular flower, the PANSY; in the language of fine art and fashion. With the strong nostalgia of Johnny jump ups growing in my backyard and the miscellaneous happy chaos of Alice in Wonderland I took a journey down memory lane. I wanted to aestheticize my childhood in a stylistic way to convey my personality and the way I approached art as a kid. When I was young I "read" a lot of I Spy books and I became naturally drawn to this sense of organized mess with eccentric detail. Every bedroom that I have put together at home and in college follows this same detailed aesthetic as well. The byproduct of this book is the pansy bomber jacket, a pansy shaped silhouette paired with the same embellishments seen in this book.
The swatch of tan fabric above, I created through the Adobe Creative Suite and printed through Spoon Flower.
The fabric prints were made with laser cut wooden stencils and acrylic paint.
