TATTOO DESIGN
The challenge at hand here was to make a tattoo design for another student in class. I got Brittany's name and I was to interview her about her interests and what she would actually like getting a tattoo of. I then was tasked to build it on the computer using Adobe software and then placing the design on a human mockup.

My brainstorming was mostly done for me whenever I interviewed Brittany about what she wanted for her tattoo design. Her insight and vision were incredibly helpful. I had written down an extensive list of her interests and design preferences and picked the ones she liked the most. The elements that Brittany like the most had to go into the design so those five or six things went into everyone of my preliminary sketches. Brittany was extremely into Greek mythology, the moon and water, vaporwave, modernism, and post-modernism. With those in mind, I thought of using Artemis (the Greek goddess of the moon and hunt), the vaporwave color scheme, a modernist layout, and some post-modern elements thrown in. These ideas stayed fairly constant from beginning to end.

I started the preliminary sketches after interviewing Brittany. After that, I had Brittany look over them and pick out her top three or five. This made it much easier to narrow down what she was really looking for in a tattoo design. I took the top tattoos and did some refined sketches and then picked the one I thought best displayed everything Brittany was wanting. I then built the design I choose using Adobe Illustrator. Once I finished building my chosen refined sketch, I took it to Brittany to get her feedback on it. We critiqued the design together and I went back and fixed the problems that were highlighted. I also added an element or two from the ideas that came from that critique.

I learned not to forget the importance and luxury of having someone to collaborate with on a project. Whether it be a client or teammate, having someone to bounce ideas off of and to form new ideas you may not have thought of is a valuable thing to have for a graphic designer.
