Green Life is an app that helps you discover and buy from local green initiatives and small community based organisations, and also to find jobs at them.

Although the number of individuals willing to purchase green products has increased in the last few years, there is little evidence to suggest that purchase of green products has increased; despite environmental concern and positive attitude of customers towards sustainability and green products, market share of green products remains confined to just 1-3% of the entire market. Hughner (2007) found that while many consumers showed a positive attitude towards purchases of organic food products (67%), only a small number of consumers (4%) actually purchased those products.

Why don’t people buy from so many existing green initiatives ?
● Many people don’t know about a lot of initiatives for sustainable products and product systems even just around their cities.
● Because people find it expensive
● It is hard to reach contact of small community based local organisations, when you want to buy their product.
● They usually don’t sell in supermarkets and retail stores, which are the most accessible places for customers, because they can’t produce bulk orders. And because, after selling their products to these markets, the prices of the products are jacked up, more than their worth
● Too used to their existing comfort products and systems
● Amazon only has a very wide customer reach and sometimes local organisations find it difficult to increase their radius, so they don’t register on amazon. And amazon has very environment hazardous packaging. Also, if you are an individual seller on amazon, you have to send your individual orders to the amazon warehouses, and only then amazon delivers it. So it is an added effort.

This economy is based on shared ownership and community control, and aims to stabilize local economies while also supporting environmental sustainability. Its advocates point to the new ways of organizing ourselves as producers and consumers.
