The craft of wood inlay has been a tradition in Hoshiarpur since a very short time, it gained popularity at a very fast pace. But it could not sustain over time and is already dying. There is not much demand for wood inlayed objects and not a lot of acknowledgement to the craft is paid by the government. In this document I have focused to spread awareness about wood inlaying and revive its popularity by making people know the labour, time and skill required in making each piece. We wish to pay as much effort as possible to bring back the life to the craft as it had a few decades ago.Wood inlay craft originated in Hoshiarpur about 300 years ago, and ivory was originally used until it was banned altogether in 1989.

PROJECT 1 - WOODEN BAGS
Changing the concept of bag as well as using Indian Handicraft to give them a boast and making something different out of it which is wooden bags. Motif used is Waves.
PROJECT 2 - VIVID LOGS
My aim is to revolutionise the traditional craft of Wood Inlay and make it trendy using ongoing Motifs.Market has always seen a brown wood with a white acrylic on it.People just consider this as Wood
Inlay. My vision is to abolish this stereotypical image of the inexpensive craft by making the wood look colourful and doing the process on different and unprecedented objects.
