Araw, A Coworking Space

I took a class called Architectonics (Intro to Architecture) during my freshman year at RISD. For our final project, the circumstances we were given were:
1) Make an addition to the Rockefeller Library, a building located on a slope (hill).
2) The total area of the building had to be less than 2000 sq. ft.
3) The building must have two connecting rooms: a bathroom and a program of your choice.
4) The landscape must be accounted for as well.

Araw is my response to the project.
The process of making this project started from an earlier project called Connecting Rooms, wherein I made a rest stop for a nature park with a bathroom. From there, I expanded the idea of a strict geometrical structure used to delineate space in a building. I started conceptualizing a circular building, built on a terraced landscape (in order to adapt to the site's slope). These ideas are inspired by the Banaue Rice Terraces and the Igorot indigineous people of the Philippines.

*In real life, only the outer ring of the roof would be panes of glass. The rest of the room would be covered. For further illustration, please refer to the interior perspectives in the first photo.
