'Hair of the dog' chair

"Hair of the dog" is a stylish chair inspired by the dramatic and eccentric grooming of show poodles.

The balls of felted foam on the legs of the chair are derivative of the balls on the legs of show poodles.  Both the back and the seat are bent plywood pieces, upholstered with foam and hand made dog felt.  Dog hair was collected from local dog groomers and then wet felted into sheets.  The sheets were then hand felted onto the soft surfaces of the chair.  This was to integrate the formal language of the design with the materials used to make the chair itself.

By reusing dog hair that ordinarily would collect in a landfill, we can make furniture that is more sustainable and forge a more meaningful bond between dog, human, and furniture.

Designed with love, so your furry friends can also be your furniture
