I created this vector graphic watch to test my skills as a photorealistic designer and for the enjoyment of others. I chose to create a watch this is simple in design, but an overall sophisticated graphic.

During the sketching process, I did not reference any photos. I decided to sketch based on some ideas that I already had so that way I could figure out what direction I wanted to take. Many of my sketches are more on the simplistic side because I knew from the beginning that I wanted to create a simple and sleek watch.
I received great feedback about adding more of a gradient to the face of the watch and the type inside of it. The shadows and highlights on the face of the watch are very subtle in the reference photo, but are what help transform it into a realistic watch. I worked with adding a light shadow to the type as well as worked with making the shadows and highlights around the rim of the watch face cohesive and realistic. As well, a suggestion I received for making the threads on the band more realistic was to add highlights to each piece of thread and then a long shadow as a whole. I began to make these changes in my drafts, as shown above, and then polished them in the end composition.
Through the use of gradients to make shadows and highlights, I created a photorealistic watch that tested my abilities as a designer and is enjoyable for all. I also utilized textures on the band to bring out the gradients and realism of it. I feel through these elements and other implemented throughout the watch design that a photorealistic watch was created.
