Lapsus: A Tensile exhibition space

A tensile structure to house an exhibition on TIME. The form has been inspired from a sundial and a basic wall clock.  Certain parts are inspired from the curves of Jantar Mantar (The worlds oldest astrolab) in Delhi, India.
‘Lãpsus’  is a latin word for lapse, meaning an interval or passage of time.
MOODBOARD
The keywords for the form were timeless, crisp, sturdy, and imposing.
Concept 1: HOURGLASS
- Vertical space inspired from the form of an hourglass.
-Tensile canopy inspired from the form of the staircases of jantar mantar, the worlds oldest astrolab.
- Double infinty shape in the plan view to emphaize the continuity and cosmic relation of time.
Final concept: SUN-DIAL
- Circular space inspired from the form of a sundial.
-Play of heights breaks the notions of static spaces in the minds of the viewers.
- Sinclastic and anti-clastic surfaces together create the entire space for the exhibition.
The structure is divided into three parts or zones:
PAST, PRESENT and FUTURE
-The exhibition starts from the past zone where the exhibits speak about time in religion, mythology, age old science, time measuring instruments and time in philosophy.
-The upper floor and the deck make the present zone, where you first experience every moment consciously and then move to the viewing deck where you see the world at the present moment.
- The future zone is a downward spiral where you witness the overwhelming power and possible manipulation of time.
Thankyou.
