Chocolate has long been a part of a luxurious lifestyle; a long-standing essential in leading "the good life." In Asheville, NC, people definitely know how to appreciate the good things in life, as this aphrodisiac can be found abundantly throughout this luscious mountain region. Chocolatiers lurking behind, just what seems to be, every corner. This small artistic city cherishes this rich glorious commodity so much so that they've created an entire festival centered around honoring its pure existence. 

On December 8th the Asheville Civic Center will host its annual Chocolate and Arts Festival, where there will be an overwhelming amount of mouth watering treats, an array of artistic compulsions, and various forms of entertainment. 

Bringing thanks to the chocolate goddess, Ixcacao, dancers will inhabit the space with their lively spirits, colorfully tickling your vision. Drummers will keep the beat in the background, rhythmically seducing your ears. And all the while delicate bits of chocolate will be within reach, ready to seduce your taste buds. 

Other artisans will add their own zest to the event, invigorating the already rich cultural setting with numerous exhibits and curious workshops. Local merchants and artists will litter the festival with their brilliant crafts, while a full on fashion show will definitely demand some attention. 

Children will have plenty to keep them entertained as well, with their own workshops geared to engage their youthful little minds, as well as many forms of children’s entertainment. 

Now, if dancing and art isn’t enough to entice your curiosity, perhaps free samples of chocolate will tease your appetite and convince you to roll out of bed on Saturday and join in on the activities. Don’t worry, you won’t have to roll out too early, the festivities are scheduled to go from noon until 7pm.
