THE APARTMENT

"A man tries to return a lost letter to its owner, but once he is in the apartment everything takes an unusual turn. "

This is the first film I ever made in college. I shot it on 16mm with a Canon Scoopic M, with a Canon Zoom 1,8 / 12,5-75mm. We used a total of 5 TRI-X Black & White Reversal Film 7266 @ 16fps to get more time out of the film rolls. One was used for camera tests and other 4 was used to shoot the actual film.

After I wrote the script, I story-boarded the whole thing.  I tried to keep the lens at 50mm at all times and have a hard key light almost in every shot to have a some sort of visual consistency.
I lit all of it with only one a construction light and a reflector. We shot 4 rolls of 16mm film over a span of 3 to 4 hours. Then, it was printed at Niagara Customs Lab, in Toronto.
I also did the editing and sound design for the film. I was quite happy with the end result. Looking back, I am still quite happy with how it turned out. It also won a couple of awards around the globe at some silent film festivals, which was a pretty big deal to me back in the day.
