Botanička mašta is my first self-published illustration book. Translated literally – it means Botanical Imagination. The title comes from a word play in Serbian: by changing the second letter ‘B’ in botanička bašta (meaning: botanical garden), I wanted to convey a meaning of a “garden” of imagination. By mixing elements of particular plants and human figures both visually and in words, I created illustrations that are in a way a personification of plants. Each illustration comes with a title that reveals an appropriate word play. I wanted to create a humorous hint to something we might often say when feeling a certain way. Next to each illustration I included a fact about that particular plant that adds another layer of meaning when read as a personification or just gives an interesting fact about that plant when read literally.
