Tinplate Hinged Star

This tin-plate 'star' assumes a simple shape that can be played into various forms that allows it to explore a variety of heights, depths and widths, as well as regular and irregular configurations. The 'star' is made from tinplated sheet steel, using cold metalworking techniques, while the pentagon frames and hinge pins are made from welding steel. 
The movement of the object is smooth and flexible, which presents it as an object that is meant to be played and interacted with. Its hinges, however, are rigid enough for the user to be in full control of the movement. The initial 'star' shape seems rather two-dimensional and ordinary from afar, but its form explores a wide variety of possibilities through the placement of its hinges.
The pins holding the hinge together will not fall out as the knuckles on one 'point' of the star is center-punched onto the rod.
