EBC '93 was inspired by the illusion of motion and bright color blocking of Alexander Calder’s BMW 3.0 CSL Art Car - the first BMW Art Car ever to be painted. This bike was designed to look like a modern take on a vintage racing car, to feel fast and to have clean, crisp lines. In order to keep the motion of the Art Car but compliment the curves of the Electra Bullet Tank bike frame, we used swooping lines of bold color and created a rounded, slightly italicized typeface for the “Electra”. 
Beyond the aesthetic design elements, we wanted to create a bike that paid homage to our 25th anniversary in a subtle and tasteful manner. The number 93 on the original Calder Art Car worked perfectly as both an homage to our brand as well as to Calder. So far, EBC ‘93 has been well received and was featured in Forbes.
