BLOCK PRINTS -history never looked so beautiful !

Woodblock printing is the process of printing patterns on fabric, usually linen, cotton or silk, by a wooden block. It is considered as the earliest, simplest and slowest of all methods of textile printing. Patience and precision are the two factors the process demands when it comes to handblock printing.
It can be done in three steps :
Washing and drying the fabric well to remove any starchiness of the fibers,
Carving the blocks,
Printing on fabric.
Once the printing is done and the color has set, the fabric needs to thoroughly washed and dried. Each block has to be pressed firmly onto the cloth so that the prints can take effect at one go.

I did some nature study before going ahead with the assignment.
Whenever I have to think of new patterns or motifs, I look into the nature first. And I never get disappointed. So, here is the woodblock that I finalized for my assignment.
Here, I did some sample drawing on paper using different colors before selecting the final ones.
I will go for blue block print on white base. And green block print on lemon yellow base. As blue and green both the colors represent nature in best possible way.
I used fiber-reactive dyes and mixed it with binder before the application.
My final assignment consists two dresses.
Thank you.
