Research Project
For this project I worked with three other designers; Synthia Dai, Wei Zhang, and Tracy Yu, to create a infographic based on the history of coins, their role as a currency and the common material composition that they share. We organized the collected data (facts, statistics, culture, etc.) with Tufte’s LATCH methods (location, alphabet, time category, hierarchy), and visualize them into a infographic by utilizing Tufte’s principles of information.
Tufte’s principles of information are as follow:
1. Enforce Visual Comparisons
2. Show Causality
3. Show Multivariate Data
4. Integrate all visual elements (words, numbers, images)
5. Content-Driven Design
This was made to create awareness of the history of coins becoming an educational tool. I also view this as an opportunity for it being used for management, planning, or infrastructure.
