Taking inspiration from Justine Reyes’ photographs and traditional Chinese funeral culture, these photographs incorporate funeral effigy and daily stuff within the traditional construct of still life. The funeral effigy and daily stuff speak to the concept of life and death. Without using skull to represent death, which funeral effigy is a metaphor of death. With the compare of daily stuff and funeral effigy, which bring out the meaning that no matter what you have when you are alive, end up, there are only funeral effigy can go with you.
