Micah 4:4 Vines Installation
This piece is inspired by the bible verse, Micah 4:4 which states, "they shall sit under their own vines and under their own fig trees, and no one shall make them afraid..". This piece represents my experience as a first-generation American.
The fabric used to create this installation is screen-printed with text referring to this verse as famously quoted by George Washington in referenced in Lin-Manuel Miranda's musical Hamilton. Other lyrics written by Miranda are featured on the "vines" and leaves in this piece, including lyrics from Miranda's other works, such as Hamilton: The Mixtape and In the Heights. Miranda's work is referenced as a representation of immigrant culture.
