This project focuses on iterating to refine and perfect this mini backpack design. The goal for this project was to gain exposure and practice with working with softgoods, while applying what I learned from one iteration to the next for a clear display of progression. I began this project by studying construction methods from a makeup pouch through taking it apart. The next step was to look to existing backpacks for inspiration in the elements that stood out to me and then to sketch on illustrator as is shown in images below. Following this, I made two muslin models before jumping into a more polished version with a camouflage fabric. The following iterations include one bag with a combination of yellow fabrics, and a final model made of a velvet and a fuzzy dusty pink fabric. These iterations include refinement in the shape, pocket, zipper application, and material application along with several other elements. The final step was to create a speck pack which consists of orthographic drawings, a pattern, and a bill of materials which is included in the following images.
