Incredible how a starfish can make a cute impression even without having a face or eyes. I made this as a secondary object for an ocean scene to be more or less realistic, without the intention to add any cuteness. Anyway as I played around with it, it did become somewhat cute :-)

I made the silhouette of the starfish based on real world pictures, filled it as a plane and split it up to polygons as it seemed logical based on the shape. After this I smoothed it until suitable for sculpting and created the details going from rough to fine. When ready, I exported all maps and set up the materials and rendering.
