Africa
thru my lens as a missionary
I went on a mission trip in 2008 that took me to 11 countries in 11 months. My team and I lived with the locals, oftentimes in our tents or in their homes, and we served beside them and lived life. It was a great way to meet felt needs and build some lasting relationships along the way while making a meaningful impact.

I was forever changed by this experience and it stirred passions inside of me that I didn't realize I even had, like creatively telling the stories of people all over the world.
Malawi, Africa.
We partnered with a ministry called Harvesters International Ministries. What they do it partner with existing churches, teach them how to plant churches in the bush, then do it. They even put their pastors into a three-year seminary EXACTLY like one in the States.

We were able to go into the bush and help plant a church in a community there. It was a two-fold process: day one we invited everyone in the community to come the next morning; day two, we preached and taught, then the HIM staff selected a pastor. It was incredible.
Nisela, Swaziland.
We had a team debrief for a few days in Swaziland. We just happened to camp in the middle of the wild. One morning I went for a prayer walk about 6:00am. This giraffe followed me the entire time (not kidding).
Cape Town, South Africa.
We spent a day going to the vineyards. Umm... can I say awesome wine? And, yes, we're missionaries who drink [responsibly].

Just a stone's throw out of Cape Town at one of the vineyards. It was one... gorgeous... morning.
