SPR helped concept, design, and execute a high-tech, foolproof way to help grow indoor plants. We utilized LTE enabled Particle devices packed with sensors to collect, analyze, and communicate with users through a custom iOS app. This is paired with a mobile app which allows people to create journal entries, logging any activities and measurements using augmented reality. The system then uses machine learning to help identify when the plant needs to be watered, rotated, or repotted. To help feed the ML, we incorporated a tinder-like feature that allows users to rate each other’s plants if they appear healthy or not. Since the plant is always connected, we can notify users of sudden or unexpected changes to the environment, letting them make decisions quickly.
