A 1 week group project on designing a cardboard chair for
children between the ages of 5-10.
Groups where only allowed to use 1 sheet of 48X80" of cardboard,
elastics and minimal glue.
Design alterations on modular components for added stability and structure
Figuring out dimensions to accomodate room for the child while optimizing the use of the cardboard sheet
Interlocking slots as well as mortises and tenons where used to
assemble all the pieces
About a dozen children came to our studio to test and play with the different chairs all the groups had made.
Red elastic was used as both a support material and an element the child could play with when turning the chair over
