Don Giovanni Play Poster

 Don Giovanni Poster:
This original poster was created using Illustrator as an advertisement for a production of the opera Don Giovanni.  The text layout includes dividing information by subject using color and displaying pertinent information for the prospective audience in a manner brief enough to keep the attention of the viewer.
The Sword:
Early on in this project I knew I wanted this sword to be a key piece of this design. It is why I chose such an extravagant sword instead of a simpler design. I am pleased with how it turned out in the final product. The sword being so detailed it took approximately 3 hours to complete.

The sword and shadowy figure on the poster are examples of illustrations drawn using Illustrator.
The Flaming Text
The flaming text is a foreshadowing of things to come in the opera with flames indicating the sinister nature of title character, Don Giovanni.
This was the inspiration for the text. But as you see I took it one step further and make the whole text appear to be fire.
Compare it to the final result:
Very Early Rough Draft
As you can by this rough draft, I wanted the sword to be the focus a little too much and centered it throwing off the whole flow. A colleague very nicely set me straight (thank you). Sorry for the blur, I'll try to find a much better photo.
