Lithography: Best of Both Worlds
DELIVERABLES
– A Series of Printed Artworks
OVERVIEW
"Lithography is a method of printing based on the immiscibility (incapability of mixing or blending) of oil and water. The artwork is drawn and printed on a sanded stone with a smooth surface." - Wikipedia
PROBLEM
An open brief to create 3 sets of design in a series; first set being the original piece, second set being the edited piece (removing or adding elements) and third set being the final and updated piece (adding colours, textural experimentation and improvements).
SOLUTION
The idea behind the artwork is a merge of two different worlds: underwater and galaxy. During the first stage, there were some elements which did not turn out to be as expected. I had them removed on the second stage, of which I found the piece to be looking unbalanced. Finally, I made the appropriate changes, added printing colours in a gradient of black to purple to blue and chine collae paper (unryu paper) as part of further development.
