Xawa Abdi Hassan Portrait

I was listening to NPR's Invisibilia podcast and was so moved by it, particularly by Xawa Abdi Hassan, a woman in Somalia living under the oppressive al-Shabab regime, where music had been made illegal. She risked it all to go on Inspire Somalia, an American Idol style reality show, and sing in public. The episode made me think about country-sponsored social engineering, and what's going on in the world, while we're just unaware, wading in the shallows. It's a fantastic listen and one of my favorite podcasts. This was done in Adobe Sketch on my iPad Pro.
