This assignment asked groups of four to translate concepts developed throughout the semester into a project. This summer house focused on the following; catching rain water, retaining walls, building into the landscape, light & dark spaces. Gualala, California’s shore was an ideal site for the project. The thermal characteristics of sedimentary rock and shale found here is used as a natural heating and cooling system.
