In November of 2012 I worked with An Porters on a research project for the Social Spaces research group of MAD-faculty. In the context of a course in the C-MD master class we had to research the possibilities to design a self-management prototype for diabetics. Co-designing with a participant we developed a car kit which fitted the personal needs of the participant.  The car kit had 3 moveable compartments where the user could place his items. The car kit was equipped with proximity sensors for each compartment, these sensors sent out a signal whenever an item was missing or all items were present. In this prototype we gave to user feedback with a simple green and red LED implemented in his car, but in further models the car kit could send its detection results to an integrated system.
