The history and tradition of the human relationship with the horse is an endless source of fascination for me.  The colors and the textures of horse’s coats, the way light plays across their form are what inspire me to paint horses.  I strive to capture the personality of the horse and create a connection with the viewer.  I am not interested in idealizing or perfecting the image of the horse.  I prefer to capture the small imperfections, the unclipped whiskers, the ear cocked back, a worn leather halter, that make each horse unique and special to someone.  All work is oil on canvas.
