LOST LILY - Metal Art

Lost Lily
Copper

You and Your Opposing Forces

I was told to think about
sth. positive that I like or desire,
sth. negative that I hate or am afraid of,
and then combine them together.

I like beautiful and nice things,
eg. flowers, eg. a lily...
I'm afraid of sharp and dangerous things,
eg. knives, and sharp teeth...

They are combined into something beautiful and dangerous at the same time,
the LOST LILY,
of which the newborn petals on the top are round and bright,
while the older petals below become sharper and darker,
just like human growing from innocent babies
into sophisticated adults.

Drafts:
Annealing:
Making single petals:

1. Cut out petals of different shapes
2. Engrave textures using sharp hammers
3. Bend petals into different curvature radius using hammers
* Anneal before every deformation
Soldering:

1. Bind 3 petals of the 1st layer with wires, then solder their roots together
2. Solder the 2nd layer in the same way
3. Solder the 1st and 2nd layer together
4. Do the same to the 3rd, 4th, and 5th layer.

Polishing:
Coloring:
Attaching a triangle pendant to represent me.

It's in the middle part of the Lily, as I'm neither a newborn baby nor a sophisticated adults.
Am I growing up?
Should I grow up?

The piece was selected to attend 2018 NASAD exhibition, displayed in Oliver Art Center cca.
Thank You
