The project was to create a portable Bluetooth speaker to explore the possibilities of design. Bang & Olufsen, the client, asked for the design to recognise the fundamentals of sound while developing a unique design aesthetic. 

The Balanced speaker is designed with the intention of creating a feeling of balance, not only by the perception of how it stands on the table, but maintaining the balance of material, detail and sound distribution. The angle of the playing face lends itself towards the listener while giving them the opportunity to rotate the unit for directional sound.  

The speakers are protected by a mesh disk, followed by the fabric layer. 

All buttons are CNC cut out of 6061 aluminium, details inlayed with resin.

The body is constructed out of MDF.
