GLASS FORGING
I used traditional glass forming techniques such as the lost wax method and sandcasting to "re-forge" hardware typically made of steel and combined them with traditional furniture and manufacturing joinery to create novel combinations of wood, glass, and metal.
I wanted to take glass, which is actually 8 times stronger than steel in dealing with compressive force, and transform it into sturdy and functional tools, challenging the conventional idea of preciousness and fragility as well as questioning both the practical and symbolic connotations of the tools.
