ITS - VICE MAGAZINE

WHO IS VICE?

Vice magazine is an Canadian-American magazine, it focuses on art, culture and new topics. What I really like about this magazine is that even though it tends to focus on politics, it's portrayed using vibrant colours and explicit images. Vice was founded by Suroosh Alvi, Gavin McInnes and Shane Smith in Montreal, Quebec in 1994, which later the founders of the magazine established it as Vice Media. It was launched as the ‘Voice of Montreal’in 1994, and was funded by the government, with the intention of being able to provide community service and work.
Alex Miller is currently the creative director of Vice magazine, he has been working for Vice since 2008 and became the executive creative director since 2016, he started out as an Online Editor and made his way up from there. Before Vice, he worked for NME from 2005-2008, Miller focuses on documentary photography and capturing those political conflicts.
VICE & THEIR COMPETITORS

Firstly Vox was founded by Jerome Armstrong, Tyler Bleszinski and Markos Moulitsas then later on in 2011, it was refounded by Joshua Topolsky who officially made Vox media.
At the moment, Buzzfeed is placed second place as the top competitor for Vice. It was founded by John Johnson and Jonah Peretti in 2006 and it is based in America. Buzzfeed focuses on entertainment and social media having many platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram to reach out to many viewers around the world. They actually have their own website in which they publish stuff like news, quizzes, blogs and many more.
Mashable is the final competitor of Vice, this media company focuses on the generation of technology and the evolution overtime. Mashable was founded by Pete Cashmore in 2005. It has successfully spread over the world where not only is it based in American but he has created a website for the UK which has similar content on what is happening.
WHAT IS A PROFILE FEATURE?

A profile feature is an article that explores an individual's background and their overall story. It focuses on quite personal areas of the subject whether that'd be through their life at home, how they feel about a certain topic, how they look as a way of getting insight of someone's life. Here are some examples of what a profile feature would look like:
