Multicultural Support Communication System
Communication between health professionals and foreign citizens is often very complicated and the absence of shared codes starting from languages and writing systems undermines the exchange of information between the various parties. Mystic was created as a result of considerations regarding the urgency that requires provision of the triage service and the discontinuous presence of cultural mediators in Accident and Emergency departments. This device manages the exchange of information between the health worker and the patient, accompanying users through the phases that make up delivery of the service such as recognition of the main symptoms, definition of pain and diagnosis and treatment. Through the use of a tablet, it is possible to access a collection of short videos with examples of traumatic events or states of malaise that help to identify the reasons why the patient was brought to the hospital.
Sistema di supporto alla comunicazione multiculturale
La comunicazione fra operatori sanitari e cittadini stranieri è spesso molto complicata. L’assenza di codici condivisi – a partire da lingue e sistemi di scrittura – mette in crisi la trasmissione di informazioni fra le varie parti. Da una riflessione sull’urgenza che richiede l’erogazione del servizio di triage e la non continua presenza dei mediatori culturali nel Pronto Soccorso, nasce Mystic: un dispositivo che gestisce lo scambio di informazioni tra operatore sanitario e paziente, accompagnando gli utenti nelle fasi che compongono l’erogazione del servizio: il riconoscimento del sintomo principale, la definizione del dolore, l’anamnesi. Mediante l’uso di un tablet, è possibile accedere a una raccolta di brevi contenuti video con esempi di eventi traumatici o di stati di malessere che aiutano a individuare i motivi che hanno portato il paziente in ospedale.
