Center for Biogenetic Research: Biogen
The Jewelry District is home to a variety of medical facilities and hospitals, Brown’s Medical School, and many parking lots. The studio was asked to design a facility to house biogenetic research within the Jewelry District that is currently striving for redevelopment.
Development: Massing and Concept
Biogen occupies two blocks along Richmond Street freed up after the demolition of the old I-95 Bridge.
An organic mesh covers the exterior façade facing Richmond Street facilitating plant and street life.
The project’s exterior bridges the gap between the Jewelry District and Downtown Providence.
