Vessel Project - Design a form that visually suggest a sense of weight or force within the form by placement of volume and quality of transitions.
Raised Vessel Project
Inspired by the traditional Japanese aesthetic of " tension of the dynamic contained within the static".
Raising is the shaping of metal from a flat sheet into a hollow form by using certain designed hammers, stakes, and proper placement of the hammer blows.
For my vessel, I raised it from a 6'' x 7'' oval-shaped 18 gauge copper sheet, and carefully planished it to achieve the smooth texture.

Although my final vessel turned out to be very different from my original design, I believe it is sometimes important for artists to let their art work evolve by itself. There should never be restrictions to art. By thinking through making, one will create more genuine art.
