This is my series of exploration on recycled material in the 2013 RISD winter session material potential class. I have always interested in designs that are sustainable and enviromental friendly. Reuse of recycled material can provided a solution not only good for the planet but also fufill our economic need.
These are two examples of my model of lamp that use recycled paper ketchup cup. the material not only provide great lighting penetration, it also gives rich form and pattern from it's orginal structure.
This a model of stool made out of small recycled paper tube that used as thread holder. The strength of the material provides a very sterdy sitting surface and the uniform pattern of the modular create rich visual that almost have a organic look.
The last two model are stools made out of larger recycled papertube that also used as thread holder. Each of the tube on the first model have cut on the side that fit in with each other, thus provide a very strong structure. The second model have tube that that have a straight cut all the way through. It was intend to be flexible and more comfortable to sit on.
Thi is a study of lighting diffuser made out of small paper tubes. I intend to build a organic form using a very geometric basic element and explore how angle and distance affect lighing quality.
