Manhattan - Sound Typography

An accordion book that uses typography to present an excerpt of “Manhattan”, a movie by Woody Allen in 1979. With only using typography, it is enough to represent the voices, the identity of the characters, the tension, the flow and the humor happened among the casts.

The technique of accordion binding is chosen because when the book is opened, we can see the entire rhythm of the conversation. It’s also like an art piece presents in long canvas which we can see in an art museum. The graphics imageries in the layout are all paintings. The rationale behind is to bring out the whole conversation is held in an art museum. Lastly, the transition of the colours also shown the nature and mood of the conversation, from calm to tention.
