This project is a result of a one week workshop with a Danish designer that specialized in wood bending. We aimed to experiment and test the limits of veneer bending, specifically birch veneer, while it is bent in a vacuum bag. Several test molds were made with materials like MDF and Styrofoam, during the process we were able to learn about the technical aspects that affect wood bending to better apply them and create interesting results.
The result is a slightly bent pen tray and several serving trays that have just the right shallow shape to contain objects on their surface.
