It's World Penguin Day in March and in order to celebrate I wanted to keep my Instagram penguin-occupied. As usual, when approaching a new subject, I've learned a few things along the way.

I decided to keep it academic this time and was moving from sub-family to sub-family. I have here Brush-tailed penguins, all 3 species inhabiting Antarctica. Here are a few tips to help ID them.

Next, let's take a look at the largest present-day penguins - king and emperor. At a glance, they look insanely similar.

After I did brief research on both species, based on photos from scientists I know and general googling.

And penguins have revealed their differences, both in adults and chicks. Can you name a few, from looking at these pages?
