This picture was inspired by a tutorial I found on RetroSupply Co, see "How to make a Vintage Botanical Illustration in Illustrator".
I didn't stick religiously to the instructions, but was very happy to gain some more practise with Illustrator brushes, textures and color overlays. I do regret my choice of flower a bit, because of all the pedals. Each single pedal has about 3-4 individual layers, which meant that this project was a bit too labor intense for what it was meant to be. Ah well, I'll keep that in mind for the future.
I bought the flowers, photographed them, used Photoshop to arrange them a bit and crop the background away. After that I used the pen tool and a recommended ink brush. And I haven't figured out my old ancient Wacom pen yet, so everything was done with a simple mouse. Hope you guys like it!
