Nimble - A smart wearable that keeps you active

NIMBLE
Nimble is a smart wearble technology that can monitor how long the user has been sitting down. Using a pressure sensoring fabric Nimble provides feedback to a mobile device (phone) and encourages the user to move around. Nimble helps the user to change their sitting patterns, avoid sedentary behaviour and promote a more healthy lifestyle.
According to Global studies we sit 7.7 hours a day on average. Estimates show that some people spend up to 15 hours a day sitting. In order to promote a more healthy lifestyle people should reduce sitting time by standing up and being active intermittently.
Initial prototype to establish Internet Of Things communication using a pressure sensor embedded in a 3D printed case.
The pressure sensor was replaced by a pressure sensing fabric using conductive fabric and velostat. This allowed the sensor to be embedded into any textile for seamless sensor integration.
The sandwich sensor was not only able to detect pressure but with a grid like arrangement, it would also be able to indicate the location of the pressure areas.
