Political Redistricting/Combinatorial Complexity Map

This map was created for a GIS course at George Mason University. We were instructed to determine the spatial extent of the 5 voting precincts or zones in a way that met a certain criteria. The criteria and process of solving this combinatorial complexity problem are described in the map layout. The software used to create this map was ArcGIS.
Spatial Statistics - Best Billboard Location

This map was created for a GIS course at George Mason University. We were instructed to determine the optimal location for the placement of billboards according to the ethnicity of the majority of the population in Washington, DC. The purpose, methodology and results for solving this problem are described in the map layout. The software used to create this map was ArcGIS, and the data was downloaded from the TIGER products provided by the U.S. Census Bureau website.

Topography, Digital Elevation Models (DEM), and Hydrologic Analysis

This map was created for a GIS course at George Mason University. We were instructed to assist in emergency planning, particularly for floods or spills by performing a Surface Hydrologic Analysis in ArcGIS. This map provide a description of the process conducted to perform the analysis, as well as a final map showing the resulting watersheds.
Viewshed, MaxCover, and 3D Visualization

This map was created for a GIS course at George Mason University. We were instructed to determine the potential, optimal location of 5 observation towers in the Fairfax City area. A set of possible locations were provided, and were used along the DEM of the areas and Viewshed analysis to determine which 5 locations provided the best coverage. The map was created using both ArcGIS and ArcScene, which provides the 3D visualization of the area.
Poster presented in the Geographic and GeoInformation System Research Poster Competition 2010 (George Mason University)
- First place in the undergraduate category -

This project was created as a poster. It describes a part of an exhaustive research that me and other 4 classmates conducted for a Seminar course in 2008 at the Universidad Central de Venezuela, Venezuela. The maps were created in Spanish and using MapInfo. For the purpose of the poster, the legend was translated to English as well as the graphs and tables. The poster was prepared using PowerPoint, and it was presented in the poster competition arranged for the 2010 GIS Day at George Mason University. The poster was awarded the first place in the undergraduate category.
