Alice in Wonderland is a beloved tale with many iterations. For my own creative challenge, I wanted to create a version of Alice (“Alicia”) as a princess who spends all her time daydreaming. Often, those who have the luxury to daydream are fortunate enough to have few other worries; it’s a lifestyle afforded primarily to children or those from great wealth. Alicia is not a child, yet she is able to live like one — she is an adult kept youthful by her dreams. One day, the only thing that may put a stop to Alicia’s dreaming and force her to confront life’s ugly realities may be her failing health in old age. But something in me believes that even then, once bedridden, she will still be gazing upwards with wide and dreaming eyes.
